Rising from the ashes of a burnt-down home emerges Dorman Beach House @ Lorne. Nestled on a challenging and steep hill in a stunning, coastal landscape, the home integrates itself with its surroundings with a mid-century-inspired palette that echos the native area.
“Dorman Beach House @ Lorne hovers above the Great Ocean Road carefully framing the dramatic ocean views along the coastline. The design-orientated owners enjoyed a passion for mid-century modernism and were looking for a robust and low-maintenance holiday home that captures the serenity of the coastal lifestyle.”

Using materials, colours and textures that blur the lines between indoor and outdoor spaces, Dorman Beach House puts the beach views front and centre, framing the coastal wonderland in every room.
Spread across three levels and organised into three distinct zones, the light dances throughout the home and the practical flow of how to live in the home comes naturally due to its thoughtful design.
To make this incredible home even better suited to the coastal environment, sustainable features have been incorporated into the fundamentals of the structure. From double-glazed windows to roof overhangs to cross-flow ventilation and more, sustainability is well and truly built into this home.
Additionally, the cladding, battens, decking and pergola are all made with fire-resistant materials in this bushfire-prone area to ensure the utmost safety of the clients and the home.
“Internally, the prominence and expressive nature of the timber floor and ceiling evoke a causal charm of traditional beach houses of yesteryear. The timber finishes provide a sustainable, warm, tactile, low maintenance and durable finish that adds to the overall livability.”
