As far as office buildings are concerned, it’s easy for designers to focus more on practicality than inspiration, leaving many workspaces feeling drab and boring. But VEGA, a German manufacturing company wanted to do something different for their Australian headquarters in Carigbah, NSW.
The complex brief given to the architects at Archisoul included creating an environment that fostered creativity, connection and wellbeing among staff while still keeping VEGA’s ethos of sustainability intact.
The plot covers 5400 square metres with three street frontages and includes VEGA’s offices as well as their conference, exhibition, training and warehouse facilities, offering a lot to work with.

“The architecture needed to reflect VEGA’s reputation for quality and precision and these were key factors in Archisoul’s appointment for the project.”
The result is a unique office facility across three buildings that are highly responsive to one another and their surrounding environment. By utilising passive design approaches and integrating a central courtyard, Archisoul was able to establish a sustainable, inspirational space within the context of the landscape.
Bringing German sensibilities to the lush, Australian natural world allowed for a true blend of these distinct cultures. Implemented in line with rigorous technical analysis to meet the brief of quality and precision, the design team provided both a sense of high-performance and natural states of being.
“As a family-owned business, [VEGA has] a unique focus on employee wellbeing, which fosters and results in longevity of tenure within the company. Their focus is on inclusivity and making the work environment as conducive as it is productive.”
Natural wood flooring and warm, natural details come together within the streamlined minimalism you’d expect from a modern office space. Large, floor-to-ceiling windows let in natural light and the warmth of the stunning scenery outside.
The open floor plan encourages collaboration among staff and the high ceilings offer a sense of expansiveness, catering to both creativity and wellbeing for those who work there.
